Summer Megapost [Part 1 of 2]

SummerMegapost Summer Megapost [Part 1 of 2]
Alright is it just me or has electronic dance music officially arrived in the states?

Just this past month over 230,000 people gathered in Sin City to get their rave on at Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC). The rise in attendance this year brings the music festival up to Coachella leagues in terms of numbers. The real kicker for me though was not the festival itself, but the…
Electric Daisy Carnival Experience (even the name sounds magical).

What the hell can that be?
No, they’re not giving away goodie bags with fluffy boots, Neon American Apparel spandex, “feel good” pills, and glowsticks sorry to get your hopes up.

The Real EDC Experience.

What is does consist of is Insomniac, the event promoters who put together EDC, showing movie audiences at selected theaters only what “actually” goes down at raves and of course many cinematic video shots of superstar djs doing the Jesus pose.

I am Dj Tiesto and I died for your sins.

I don’t think Middle America is ready for this or ever will be; however, a little more bass never hurt anyone.

Now for the music.

Let’s start with something soft; this first song is a remix that I’ve had in my library for quite a while now and have been aching to share to the world. There something eerily, catchy about the vocals and there’s definitely not enough bang in this track to make it a summertime festival anthem, but it’s the perfect song for summer road trips.

Italy’s most well known export in the EDM scene, Benny Benassi, is bringing the heat back to the dance floor with his latest remix. His programming of the track’s original vocals in his remix show that he’s come a long way from synthesized robot vocals that say naughty things relating to satisfaction. This song is a great followup to Cinema.

Porter Robinson has officially made it cool to drop Lady Gaga in a dj set with this remix. Considering Porter’s age (19), I think some acknowledgement should be made to the fact that he just graduated high school and is already being commissioned to remix Lady Gaga. Next time someone asks you to play Lady Gaga, don’t feel ashamed to play this track out.

I wish I could just say that Angger Dimmas is a beast of a producer and leave it at that. However, this guy really stands out in the edm world and deserves some much needed background info. He’s 22 years old and hails from Indonesia. Most importantly, he’s been teaming up with Static Revenger, remixing Avicii, and was featured on Tiesto’s club life CD. Here are two of my favorite remixes from him.

I would personally not recommend for this song to be played in lower quality sound systems or poor headphones since it will diminish the quality of the song. Sidney Samson dropped this track at EDC and from what I heard it killed. Max out your volume and enjoy!

This song is amazing and Tiesto thinks so too since it’s featured in his Las Vegas Club Life CD. Is there really anything else I can say?

I'm half your age and making more money than you.

Next up we have 21 year old producer Arty from Russia. He joins the league of barely legal producers who are making the biggest hits in the club scene today. His original track Around The World features a killer melody which is bound to kill at the festivals this summer and an escalating intro that is sure to get the crowd pumped.

Then we have Daddyrock which is just dark and dirty in the most stadium house way possible. This is a hands in the air kind of song with two breakdowns back to back leading to a subtle drop that really completes the song. Basically, just download this song, play it, and go do some epic activity like battling a dungeon boss in wow.

Pryda aka Eric Prydz has a fear of flying so will never be in the states. Consequently, I advise anyone who wishes to see him live to save up and go to Europe to see him perform. Can’t afford that? Download these songs and pretend that he’s djing just for you in your room, car, house, pool, or wherever you get down.

A single from his newest EP; Eric Prydz proves furthermore that he dominates the Progressive House scene with this track. Most critics are raving about the other single, Mirage. However, I prefer this since it reminds me of his glorious and godly track, Miami To Atlanta.

Miami To Atlanta (Original Mix) – Pryda / *Summer Must Have*

Considering Eric Prydz fear of flying and the fact that Swedish House Mafia has a banger by the same name, you might think Miami To Atlanta would be a joke of track; prepare to get bitch-slapped by his amazing production for ever thinking those thoughts.

r3hab 300x160 Summer Megapost [Part 1 of 2]

This is R3hab; dj by night, model by day.

*Insert generic joke about needing some rehab after all the edc partying you did*. R3hab is one of my favorite established Dutch House producers. His work is not only melodic, but keeps it interesting with constant change ups throughout the production. Being that dutch house can be an annoying genre, I present to you two of my favorite non-dutchy tracks with clean breakdowns that yearn to be played in a beach setting.

Koko (R3hab Remix) – Sander Van Doorn
Koko (R3hab Remix)

Koko is being played by all the big names at summer festivals this year. However, this remix is fresh off the beatport releases. With one listen you can tell it differs from R3habs usual style, but this in my opinion is what makes this track work so well. He takes the original Koko melody to a whole other level during the breakdown then hits you with a killer drop.

In Case I Fall (R3hab Remix) – Cahill feat. Joel Edwards / *Summer Must Have*

I love when I can get away with playing songs with cheesy lyrics in the breakdowns; you know the kind of lyrics that songs featured in Twilight Soundtracks would have. Well, this song perfectly manifests that concept and then adds a killer synth and bass combination to add some extra win. Now you can feel like a boss when listening to a song with lyrics straight out of a Fabio romance novel.

I know how hard you all party so I’m including a little bit more R3hab. icon wink Summer Megapost [Part 1 of 2]

R3hab goes disco on us and remixes a song that goes wayyyy back. Remember the song Body Crash by the short lived group Buy Now? Well they also sampled this disco classic. R3hab takes the sample in a completely different direction though so don’t hesitate to download.

Barcelona (Original Mix) - Francesco Diaz & Young Rebels vs David Costa
Barcelona (Original Mix)

| (Buy On Beatport) [Download In 320] |

If Dada Life make sweet stereo love with Pryda’s Miami To Atlanta it might sound a little like this collaboration between Francesco Diaz, Young Rebels, and David Costa. They’re all relatively unknown house producers in the scene, but if they keep this level of production up, I doubt that’ll last. It starts off heavy, builds up to the breakdown, and then brings in a synth melody that makes you wonder if house tracks even have breakdowns now a days.

DISCO - Francesco Diaz & Jeff Rock **FYAH**

Seriously though I can’t get over Francesco Diaz‘s sound so I’m throwing in a bonus track that he did with Jeff Rock. This track is not recommended for bass baby ears; only download if you like filthy, sexy house and I mean that in the most non-lyrical sense.

Violins Of Donau (Original Mix) – John Dahlbäck
Violins Of Donau (Original Mix)

Alright, I must come clean and say that I’m a John Dahlback fangirl and have yet to hate any of his productions ever since I heard Everywhere. This is track is no exception. The off-key violin breakdown showcases how John Dahlback has the ability to make even the simplest samples slap bass. And yes haters, I am aware it sounds alot like his remix of Electroman; it’s still getting on my most played playlist on itunes.

Lick My Deck – John Dahlbäck & Sebastian Ingrosso / **Classic**

And since I love all you EasyLovers oh so much, I’ll throw in my favorite remix from Mr. Dahlback. This is a track he did with Sebastian Ingrosso (1/3rd of Swedish House Mafia) a few years back. It’s still golden though.

Yeke Yeke 2011 (Robbie Rivera Remix) – Mory Kante / **Caribbean Bomb**
Yeke Yeke 2011 (Robbie Rivera Mix)
| (Buy On Beatport) [Download In 320] |

I leave you with my fellow Puerto Rican dj and producer, Robbie Rivera’s, remix of Yeke Yeke which samples some tribal track that you’ve probably heard before. Robbie Rivera never fails to deliver ridiculous kicks to his songs or incredible buildups. The breakdown features an african shaman (watch the video) chanting something magical or something in an another language plus epic piano playing. You basically can’t lose with this track so download and enjoy listening to this on your summer nights.

Make sure to come back for part two with even more tunes and summer favorites from our very own AZN GLO and Yooj who has just released tracks on Monique Music and will soon have another release on weplayminimal.

Love your music. icon wink Summer Megapost [Part 1 of 2]
